Hall-Effect Latches come in various packaging options.

Press Release Summary:

Produced with BiCMOS technology, A1210/1/2/3/4 feature Hall element geometries and low-offset amps that minimize noise and reduce residual offset voltage. Device programming, performed after packaging, ensures switchpoint accuracy by eliminating offsets that can be induced by package stress. Suited for computer/office, industrial, and automotive markets, switches are offered in 3-pin single in-line packages and 3-pin SMT packages with Pb-free plating option.

Allegro Microsystems, Inc. Replaces Hall-Effect Latch Family for Improved Performance and Additional Packaging Options

Worcester, MA, June 20, 2005 - Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. introduces the A121x family, which is intended not only to replace our legacy A317x and A318x family of Hall-effect latches with improved performance, but also to offer our customers a wider variety of packaging options. Additionally, for the first time with our continuous-time Hall-effect latch family, Allegro is offering Pb-free plating to comply with various international standards.

The A1210, A1211, A1212, A1213 and A1214 Hall-effect latches are next-generation replacements for the popular Allegro A317x and A318x lines of latching switches. The A121x family, produced with BiCMOS technology, consists of devices that feature fast power-on time and low-noise operation. Device programming is performed after packaging to ensure increased switchpoint accuracy by eliminating offsets that can be induced by package stress. Unique Hall element geometries and low-offset amplifiers help to minimize noise and to reduce the residual offset voltage normally caused by device overmolding, temperature excursions and thermal stress.

Targeted to the consumer, computer/office, industrial and automotive markets, the A121x family is provided in a three-pin single in-line package (UA) and a three-pin surface-mount package (LH). For quantities of 10,000, the A121x is priced between $0.39 and $0.67 depending on root and temperature range. The leadtime for both packages is 14-16 weeks.

Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. is a supplier of advanced mixed-signal power semiconductors and Hall-effect sensors targeted toward the automotive, communications, computer/office automation, consumer and industrial markets. It maintains a leadership position in the integrated magnetic sensor and integrated motor driver product segments. With over 2,000 employees, Allegro is headquartered in Worcester, MA.
