New Sheetrock Liner Panels Offer Moisture-Resistant Upgrade In Cavity Shaft Wall and Area Separation Wall Construction

New SHEETROCK® Brand Gypsum Liner Panels - Enhanced (e+) offer architects, building owners and contractors a high-performance, moisture-resistant upgrade over standard gypsum panels in applications where moisture may be a concern.

Designed specifically for use in United States Gypsum Company's SHEETROCK Brand Cavity Shaft Wall Systems and Area Separation Wall Systems, the panels offer enhanced moisture and mildew resistance.

Made from a non-combustible gypsum core, the panels are encased in a 100 percent recycled water-, mold- and mildew-resistant blue face and back paper. They score and snap easily and require no special handling. In addition, the panels do not cause installer skin irritation and itch - a frequent concern among contractors who handle glass-mat faced panels.

When used as part of U.S. Gypsum's SHEETROCK Brand Cavity Shaft Walls Systems and SHEETROCK Brand Area Separation Walls Systems, the panels help deliver proven fire resistance, structural performance and sound control.

"The new panels provide added protection against moisture-related problems when good design and construction practices are followed," said Dean Updegrove, marketing manager for U.S. Gypsum Company. "This feature, combined with the panels' other performance benefits, makes them a practical, value-added choice in a wide range of commercial and residential construction projects."

The 1-inch-thick liner panels are available in 24-inch widths and in 8- to 12-foot lengths. They are UL classified for fire-resistance (Type SLX), surface burning characteristics and non-combustibility.

SHEETROCK Brand Cavity Shaft Wall Systems (formerly called USG Cavity Shaft Wall Systems) and SHEETROCK Brand Area Separation Wall Systems (formerly called USG Area Separation Wall Systems) are the leading systems of their kinds in the construction industry.
