Ground Indicator promotes safe pumping of combustible material.

Press Release Summary:

AEPGI wall-mounted device with explosion-proof enclosure tests for presence of electrical grounding in tank cars or tank trucks before and during transfer of combustible materials. Unit connects with hand-held alligator clamp, indicating safe ground with green light and absence of ground with red light. Interlocking circuitry prevents pumps from starting until ground is established and shuts pumps down if ground is lost during transfer.

Appleton Ground Indicator Promotes Safe Pumping of Combustible Materials into Tank Cars or Trucks

SKOKIE, IL, November 27, 2002 To address the growing demand for power safety customized to meet the needs of specific industries, Appleton today introduced the AEPGI, a wall-mounted device that tests for the presence of electrical grounding in tank cars or tank trucks before and during the transfer of combustible materials, such as petrochemicals, paints or grain.

Operation of the AEPGI Series Ground Indicator is straightforward: it connects with an hand-held alligator clamp to a truck or rail car, enabling the user to quickly and easily test for a ground. The presence of a safe ground is indicated by an illuminated green light, while the absence of a ground is clearly shown by a red light. Interlocking circuitry prevents pumps from starting until a ground is established, and will shut the pumps down if a ground is lost at any time during the transfer.

Intrinsically safe circuitry, combined with an explosion-proof enclosure, qualifies the AEPGI for use in hazardous locations (Class I, Div. 1 and 2, Groups B, C and D; Class II, Div. 1 and 2, Groups E, F and G). It is available with a 25- or 50-foot coiled cable equipped with an alligator ground clamp. To protect against corrosion, the copper-free aluminum enclosure has an epoxy powder coat.
