Original Press Release:

New 40 Amp Ground Bond Tester with an Enhanced Graphic LCD

Lake Forest, Illinois, Jan. 2004 - Announced today by Associated Research, Inc., is the HYAMP® III, model 3140, mid range ground bond tester. The 3140 is designed to provide up to 40 Amps of ground bond test current continuous duty. It was designed to accommodate for revisions made to both the CSA-C22.2 NO. 60950-1-03 and the UL 60950-1 standards for information technology equipment. The revisions now require ground bond test current to be 2 times the current rating of the circuit under test. Previously these standards only required the test current to be 1.5 times the current rating.

The 3140 features a new enhanced graphic LCD that allows critical information to be viewed more prominently by the operator. It simplifies the user interface and allows users to quickly and effortlessly set-up tests, perform tests and read results. In addition, the enhanced graphic LCD provides advanced features such as VERI-CHEK®, a built-in verification system and CAL-ALERT®, an automatic calibration alert system.

One of the most beneficial features of the 3140 is its capability to interconnect with a Hypot III model to form a complete test system that will perform the four most common safety tests, AC Hipot, DC Hipot, Insulation Resistance and Ground Bond. The 3140's 2U ½ rack mount cabinet design and the similar design of the Hypot III models allow this test system to be easily rack mounted side by side in a single 19" 2U rack space. This test system provides a single Device Under Test (DUT) connection that automates the test sequences as chosen by the operator. If preferred the "single step mode" allows linked tests to be accessed and performed one at a time. This system can be controlled manually or through simple remote PLC control. The 3140, whether used as a stand alone tester or interconnected as part of an electrical safety test system, provides advanced features that improve the safety and reliability of the tests performed.

Additional Features of the 3140 include:

Remote Safety Interlock, Remote Memory Select, Line and Load Regulation, Milliohm Offset, 50/60 Hz Testing, Tamper Proof Controls, 10 Memories with 3 steps per Memory, Single Step Mode for Linked Tests, and Remote PLC Control.
