New 3 Finger Grippers Offer Small Sizes with Big Features
The new series 3-finger concentric gripper - MPZ is extremely compact with the 4 features and options normally only found on larger gripping products.
When gripping and handling small components two characteristics are considered principal - speed and precision. The new MPZ compact 3-finger grippers offer repeatability of less than 10µm (0.0004") and actuation speeds as fast as 20ms. Unmatched speed and precision is achieved through precise low friction guidance.
Consistent grip force, long finger capability and long life are assured as well.
The actuation mechanism is based on the proven double wedge principal. The pneumatic cylinder is integrated directly in the housing providing the most compact lightweight package possible.
The grippers are available in 3 body sizes ranging from 30mm to 45mm allowing proper selection and sizing for many diverse applications. Strokes are between 6mm and 10mm resulting in grip forces from 60N (14lbf) to 285N (65lbf). Spring assist models are available for internal or external gripping to enhance grip force and safety in the event of air loss. These additional standard models expand the application range further compared to pneumatic only driven units.
The gripping conditions of open, closed or part present are easily monitored with magnetic type switches. Up to 5 positions can be monitored with the optional SCHUNK FPS (Flexible Positioning Switch).
