Chicago, July 2, 2002

The NUM Corporation of Naperville, Illinois is now offering its NUM PCProcam GC Cylindrical Grinding and GS Surface Grinding software packages for all types of industrial grinding applications. PCProcam runs on the NUM 10xx Series family of CNC's, and is utilized from a PC-based CNC operator's panel. The programs provide complete off-the-shelf solutions, saving years of software development time for grinding applications of ceramic, graphite, and metal parts in the automotive, aerospace, and general metalworking industries, among others.

With the PCProcam, machine operators are provided with an easy to use conversational and graphical programming approach that depicts the grinding wheel, the workpiece involved, and the setup data in a clear and concise manner. Included is a complete range of OD and ID cylindrical and surface grinding and wheel dressing routines as well as support for attachments such as in-process gauging, flagging, and crash control.

Data input screens may be customized to meet all types of terminology requirements. Data is stored in a Database structure which allows for quick access, strong data integrity, and minimal disk space usage. PCProcam also allows for direct hyperlinks to CAD files or other important job information, and can be configured to run locally or over a network.

PCProcam GC and GS run under Windows 98, NT, 2000, and XP. Their Outlook-Explorer style interface is simple to learn and comes with help guides and tool tips for quick on-line assistance. Operators do not have to use ISO programming, but rather simply answer questions presented on the screen. After the question and answer session the cylindrical or surface grinding program is automatically generated, stored, and ready for execution.

Remote diagnostic, unattended CNC system back-up or fully remote system operation is possible via Ethernet connection options and TCP-IP connection software.
