Agathon Introduces Fully CNC Controlled Centerless Grinding Machine

Bethel, CT May 23, 2006,...AGATHON Machine Tools announces the new full CNC controlled 255CL centerless cylindrical grinding machine for high-precision grinding of parts with diameters between 0.5 and 15 mm and lengths of up to 125 mm. The grinding and control spindles form equivalent NC axes that are freely-programmable. The CNC control system is based on the Sinumerik 840 D controller that together with the "Safety-Integrated" safety concept creates a CE-compliant total system.
Equipped with a regulating wheel slide that is manually rotatable enables both timesaving and convenient correction of parallelism. Furthermore, it facilitates angular infeed grinding, satisfying the increasing demand in this area. For cylindrical plunge grinding, a grinding width of 127 mm is available, while for angular infeed grinding the width is 90 mm.
The 255CL incorporates an extremely stable machine bed that utilizes a welded structure partly filled with special Hydropol® concrete for greater rigidity. The machine is equipped for single, dual- and triple-track grinding. The grinding and regulating wheels are supported unilaterally and can be mounted from the operator's side. The dressing system (patent has been applied for) guarantees a straightness of ≤ 1 µm over a length of 127 mm. Measuring systems and peripheral devices for loading and unloading can be mounted at the (operator) machine front, the rear side and on the grinding and regulating wheel headstock for greater productivity.
