Greer Upgrades CTL Line

Going to greater lengths to answer customers' needs

(Dover, OH)-- Greer Steel has announced the completion of a new upgrade that extends the length capability of the company's Braner CTL line. While previously able to handle lengths of up to 146", the line can now process lengths up to 160".

The width, gauge and coil weight capabilities remain unchanged; the high-speed line from Braner USA features a 17-roll flattener with a backer assembly and is capable of processing 72" cold rolled coils up to 30,000 lb x 30" wide in gauges up from .025 to .220.

Company officials say this upgrade was performed to meet the expanding needs of Greer's current customer base and will also serve those customers well into the future.

Greer's Marketing Vice President, Bob Friend says, "Our CTL line was originally installed in answer to our customers' demands for material that runs more efficiently on their lines and therefore, provides increases in parts per pound and in overall productivity. Adding length capability to our line simply adds to the benefits of utilizing the line and underscore's the company's long-term commitment to our customers."

Greer Steel, founded in 1917, produces cold rolled strip steel to customer specifications including various carbon grades, demanding surface finishes, tight gauge control, and edging, which can be supplied as coils or cut to length. The company is headquartered and has its main plant in Dover, Ohio along with its service center in Ferndale, Michigan. Both facilities are ISO 9001-2000 certified and the Dover facility's metals laboratory is A2LA accredited.
