18W Medical Power Adaptors Offer Certified Patient Safety and High Energy Efficiency
Aldermaston: – Sunpower’s new Mean Well GEM18I series are the first green wall-mounted medical adaptors to become available, particularly as they provide interchangeable AC plugs. This means that these 18 W adaptors can be used in any of four regions – the UK, Europe, the USA and Australia – simply by swapping the AC plug. The devices accept inputs from 80 – 264 VAC while DC outputs range from 5 VDC to 48 VDC according to the model selected.
The design is approved to IEC 60601-1 third edition, EN60601-1-11, and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1-11 household medical regulations. By meeting a 2 x MOPP level of protection and achieving an ultra-low leakage current of less than 100 µA, GEM18I products are suitable for use with BF (direct contact with patients) medical equipment.
The GEM18I series carries further assurances of safety, as it comprises Class ll power units with no FG, housed in 94V-0 flame retardant plastic cases. Short circuit, overload and over voltage protections are provided. The products are approved to international safety standards UL/CUL/TUV/CB/FCC/CE.
In addition to high levels of safety, the GEM18I series is compliant with the latest international energy efficiency standards – EISA 2007/DoE Level Vl and EU ErP. No-load power consumption is less than 0.075 W. The devices’ operating temperature range is -20°C to +40°C
