New Grease Meter

Assalub AB, which in 1997 launched the world's first grease meter with a digital display for outflow quantity, is now presenting the next generation of this valuable maintenance tool.

The new meter uses a measurement principle based on an oval gearwheel, thus reducing the weight and dimensions for a very easy to handle and robust design packed with new and useful features.

o Weighing just 350 g, the meter can easily be fitted to all normal hand pumps and valve handles for grease lubrication.
o The outflow quantity can be displayed either in g (gram), cm³, oz (ounces) or fl.oz (fluid ounces) on the four-figure display.
o The display has clear 9 mm high figures that can be background lit in dark environments.
o The meter has a total counter in tons.
o Maximum working pressure is 700 bar.

The new grease meter provides the lubricator with a handy tool to be able to lubricate each bearing simply and correctly as per the manufacturer's recommendations. In practice, this soon results in a reduction of 30 - 50% in grease consumption at the same time as the machines get cleaner and the environment improves.

By avoiding over- and underlubrication, the service life of the bearing is extended and the costs of bearing replacement and maintenance are reduced. Fewer unplanned operational stoppages also mean increased productivity.

Since the grease meter was first used at the Domsjö pulp mill in Ã-rnsköldsvik in 1997, grease consumption has fallen from 15 tons/year to 4 tons/year. Today, only synthetic grease is used and the lubrication intervals have been doubled. This leads not just to lower lubrication costs and an improved working environment, but also to the time spent on lubrication being reduced by half.

However, thanks to consistent use of the grease meter for all hand grease the most important result is that the service life of the bearings has increased, leading to greater productivity.

Assalub's grease meter is the tool for the quality-conscious lubricator of today and the future.
