Original Press Release:

Curtiss-Wright's New Graphics PMC Card Features M9 VGA/DVI Graphics, Video/RGB/DVI Input, Audio I/O, and USB 2.0

LEESBURG, VA - November 7, 2005, -- Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing has introduced a new video-capture enhanced member of its Atlas family of dual-channel, high resolution PMC graphics controllers. The new AtlasPMC/2 PMC card delivers video, RGB and DVI input capability and an extensive range of multimedia features including dual-head analog or DVI output display, stereo audio I/O and an on-board USB 2.0 controller. The AtlasPMC/2 saves slots and eases the integration of powerful, flexible multimedia functionality in VME, CompactPCI and PCI systems.

"The AtlasPMC/2 saves system integrators time and valuable board slots," said Darwin Beckel, president and general manager of Subsystems Solutions, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. "Our highly experienced Graphics design team has responded to the unique needs of the benign/commercial marketplace with a high performance, tightly integrated graphics card design that boasts a feature set unmatched in the industry."

The AtlasPMC/2 is based on ATI Technologies' RADEON Mobility 9000 (M9) mobile graphics processor, which supports dual 2D, 3D, OpenGL, and DirectX compatible displays with up to 16.7 million colors (24 bpp). In addition to its 64 MB of integrated memory, the Windows-compatible M9 delivers advanced features such as reduced-power optimizations, integrated video output, and quad-pipeline 2D/3D acceleration. The card's host bus interface uses a 32/64-bit PCI/PCI-X bridge that enables the on-board components to operate at their top speed, unaffected by host side bus activity.

This single PMC card solution provides support for a wide range of display types and resolutions. It displays analog VGA screen resolutions up to 1920x1200 over its front panel DVI-I and MDR20 connectors. The card can also be configured to output dual digital video (DVI) channels at resolutions up to 1600x1200 (1920x1200 with reduced blanking interval timing). TV video signal output (NTSC/PAL) is supported on the card's second channel. A version of the card that provides support for front panel LVDS support is available via special order (please contact the factory for more information).

The AtlasPMC/2's outstanding graphics output capabilities are enhanced with a wide range of video input and multimedia features. Video input support on the card includes NTSC/PAL/SECAM, RGB, and DVI input modes. The card's onboard USB 2.0 host controller simplifies use of popular devices such as USB-compliant video cameras. Audio support is provided by an on-board Stereo Audio I/O controller. Access to the video input, USB and audio functions is provided via standard DVI-I (using spare pins) and MDR20 front-panel connectors that enable use of off-the-shelf cables for DVI and VGA.

The AtlasPMC/2 significantly eases the configuration of powerful video capture and display systems. For example, simultaneous activity from an NTSC input (such as a VCR using the video input), a USB webcam, and audio output can be reliably demonstrated on a Windows XP system with a PCI-X backplane. Alternatively, the card can be configured to acquire 1024x768x16 bpp RGBHV. The card's I/O can be flexibly modified by use of programmable multiplexers. Different I/O operating modes can be selected through software or dipswitch control.

A wide range of operating system environments is supported on the card. Its dual-mode VGA/FCode BIOS enables the AtlasPMC/2 to operate in virtually any x86, PowerPC, or SPARC system. Software support across a broad range of operating systems includes Solaris, Linux, Windows, VxWorks, and LynxOS (contact Curtiss-Wright Sales for availability).

The board is designed for use in 0°C to +70°C operating environments. An on-board LM75 thermal sensor monitors local heat levels. For harsher environments special extended temperature testing is available.

The AtlasPMC/2's unique design attributes include:
· M9-based dual display design provides single or dual VGA and DVI
· USB 2.0 controller
· Stereo audio I/O controller
· Supports dual channel output and NTSC (up to 1024x768) simultaneously
· Supports NTSC, PAL, SECAM, RGB or DVI video input via the PMC front panel (second channel of video capture via the USB connector)
· Uses DVI-I and MDR20 connectors that connect to standard interfaces
· Breakout cables are available for extended features
· On-board 3V regulator for compatibility with all VME CPU boards
· On-board thermal sensor
· Full Windows compatibility including power management and BIOS auto-detect
· PCI/PCI-X compliant, 32/64-bit 33/66/100/133 MHz capable
