Graphics Driver works in embedded systems.

Press Release Summary:

WindML driver applications programming interface (API) lets hand-written and machine-generated programs run on company's PowerPC-based SBCs, and displays video outputs on Trinity I and Trinity II graphics controllers. Driver supports refresh rates of 60 to 100 Hz at resolutions of 640 x 480 and 800 x 600, and refresh rates of 60 to 118 Hz at resolutions of 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024. It runs under VxWorks real time operating system (RTOS).

New Dy 4 Driver Expands Application Range For Harsh Environments

Kanata, Ontario, December 30, 2001 - Dy 4 Systems, the world's leading designer and manufacturer of COTS VME and CompactPCI products for harsh environments, has released the WindML® driver for its InSights Graphics Controllers, the Trinity I and Trinity II. The new driver, ideal for rapidly creating applications that require reduced graphic complexity, will open the rugged environment embedded field to many existing embedded graphical applications.

WindML is an applications programming interface (API) developed by WindRiver Systems Inc. to work with their VxWorks family of real time operating systems (RTOS). With the new WindML driver, hand-written and machine-generated WindML programs can be run on Dy 4's PowerPC-based SBCs, and video output displayed on the Trinity I and Trinity II InSights Graphics Controllers.

Less demanding software display applications written for other embedded environments can also be easily ported into Dy 4's InSights products with the WindML driver. These include the Personal Jworks programs, which is WindRiver's complete implementation of Sun Microsystems PersonalJava Application Environment (PJAE), and WindRiver's small, embeddable Zinc graphical user interface (GUI) toolkit. This now makes it possible to develop graphics applications for the InSights product range with all levels of complexity extending up to Dy 4's complete Xl 1/OpenGL implementation.

The WindML driver supports refresh rates of 60-100 Hz at resolutions of 640 x 480 and 800 x 600 as well as refresh rates of 60-118 Hz at resolutions of 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024.

Trinity I and Trinity II graphic controllers are high-performance, high functionality PMC mezzanine modules designed for either VME or CompactPCI processor boards. The modules deliver an unparalleled range of avionics-centric capabilities including: variable display resolutions, refresh rates and color depth; virtual texture memory management unit; anti-aliased lines and polygons; scissoring and stripping; and flexible image capture options.

Pricing for the WindML driver starts at $4,000 (US) with associated runtime license at $110 (US). Delivery is January 2002.
