Peritek Adds Solaris 9 OS Support to PMC, CompactPCI and PCI Graphics Boards
Solaris 9 Support Includes Drivers, Optimized FCode, Accelerated 3D OpenGL and Sun VTS Test Software.
OAKLAND, Calif. -------- January 13, 2003 -- Peritek Corporation, the leading provider of mezzanine graphics boards for embedded systems, has announced the addition of Solaris 9 support to its broad family of single and dual-display SPARC/Solaris-compatible PMC, CompactPCI and PCI graphics boards. In addition to updated Solaris DDX drivers, Peritek has also released accelerated 3D OpenGL and VTS test software for Solaris 9.

o Argus/PMC: dual-display PMC graphics controller with 6 video capture channels
Peritek¹s Solaris operating environment support includes OpenBoot-compatible FCode for all of its Solaris based products. Peritek's FCode implementation enables the display controller to fully function as a Sun console device, even prior to the installation of the Solaris operating system.
Solaris DDX
Peritek provides Solaris-compatible device drivers and a DDX module that supports Sun Microsystems' X-Windows server, Xsun. Peritek's DDX implementation provides outstanding graphics acceleration and support for multiple displays, including support for Sun's Xinerama. A wide variety of window resolutions and sync formats are supported, including Sync-on-Green. Solaris 2.6, 2.7 (7), 2.8 (8), and 9, both 32-bit and 64-bit kernels, are fully supported. A simple installation method, compatible with Sun's package format utilities, is also provided.
Solaris GLDX Accelerated 3D OpenGL
Peritek¹s GLDX is an accelerated 3D OpenGL software package for Peritek¹s family of Sun Solaris-compatible Borealis Graphics Processor-based PMC, CompactPCI and PCI boards. GLDX uses a Direct Rendering Interface (DRI) architecture to dramatically improve 3D and 2D OpenGL performance. It takes full advantage of the Borealis' internal OpenGL hardware pipeline. Without DRI support, graphics processors must handle OpenGL commands via software through the host processor.
