Grabner® MINIDIS Sets the Standard for Small Scale Distillation Testing of Petroleum Products


Mini-Distillation Analyzer Performs Exclusively to New ASTM D7344-07 Method

ALBANY, New York - The MINIDIS analyzer from Grabner® Instruments determines the distillation characteristics of petroleum products exclusively through the use of the new ASTM D7344-07 Method. The recently developed method covers the testing of a wide range of petroleum products, including low sulfur diesel fuels; aviation, marine and gasolines; petroleum spirits; naphthas; and kerosines. It was specifically developed for a small specimen sample volume and a miniaturized apparatus making field testing possible.

The portable Grabner MINIDIS analyzer is ideal for testing "on the move." Simply install the instrument in a mobile lab or equip a fleet of tank trucks with the compact device. With a sample volume of 6mL, the ASTM D7344 Method reduces sample volume some 15-fold versus ASTM D86 Method and takes just half the time (10 minutes versus 20 minutes for ASTM D86).

The Grabner MINIDIS is fully automatic. Rinsing, filling, sample lifting and sample introduction are fully automatic. The MINIDIS works with small sealed cups and a metallic distillation column. Unlike instruments that use the ASTM-D-86 Method, the MINDIS does not require a fire detection system.
