Gorilla Logic Releases Latest Version of FoneMonkey Open Source Testing Tool for iPhone and iPad Applications

FoneMonkey user requests drive newest set of features and functions

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Gorilla Logic, (www.gorillalogic.com), a leader in enterprise application development services and creators of open source test tools for mobile and Rich Internet Applications (RIA), today announced the latest version of FoneMonkey, the open source functional testing tool for iPhone and iPad applications. New features in the fall release of FoneMonkey include the ability to write test cases in JavaScript and a new API that makes it easier to create lists of FoneMonkey commands, resulting in increased efficiencies for developers looking to boost their productivity when developing mobile applications.

"The latest release of FoneMonkey allows QA engineers to now write complete test suites without having to know Objective C, increasing their overall productivity while enhancing both the quality and functionality of iPhone and iPad applications," said Stu Stern, president and CEO of Gorilla Logic and co-creator of FoneMonkey. "We recently provided a preview of these new capabilities at the 360 iDev Conference and we were pleased to see the positive response from the application development community."

New features of the Fall FoneMonkey release include:

- Programmed scripts for Objective-C and Java Script can be generated automatically or scripted manually, resulting in the ability to create extensive tests or suites of tests.

- The ability to drive tests using CSV files to seamlessly input the necessary data without delay and create databases in Excel to drive QA engineers and developers' tests.

- Updated recording capabilities so that changes to the UI will not break previously scripted tests.

- Automated testing capabilities resulting in increased efficiencies.

Gorilla Logic's passion for delivering quality software applications for enterprise customers led to the creation of FoneMonkey. It is the only test tool for iOS that records all actions with the iPhone or iPad while in use and plays them back as a test script at any time. It enables the interactive creation, editing and playback of automation scripts that exercise an application's user interface. Using FoneMonkey, developers and quality assurance team members can create suites of tests that automate and perform user operation sequences, and then verify results. FoneMonkey supports development as well as QA testing, and tests can easily be incorporated into continuous integration environments.
