Goodyear Expands Hydraulic Crimper Lineup to Meet Market, Customer Needs

AKRON, Ohio, Aug. 29 /Goodyear's (NYSE:GT) market-back approach to its Engineered Products business has resulted in a new hose crimping machine to strengthen its hydraulic lineup.

The bench-top Goodyear Perma-Crimp PC150-H crimper that reduces cycle times by 25 percent compared to the company's PC150 model was the direct result of soliciting customer feedback on what improvement was needed in the market, according to Mike Watts, Goodyear's marketing manager for hydraulics.

"The high-speed, horizontal configuration of the PC150-H is perfect for assemblers requiring faster crimping operations," Watts said. "The reduced cycle time can help the performance of any of our customers, especially the high-volume distributors supplying to the original equipment markets."

The new crimper is available in one- and two-horsepower packages that are compatible with up to 1.5-inch hose and 4-spiral construction.

Watts said the crimper has an easy-to-read, fully adjustable micrometer odometer that helps operators enter specifications quickly, precisely and effortlessly.

"It is equipped with an adjustable retraction stop for quick, repetitive crimps and automatic shut-off for precise crimps," he said. "The quick-change dies, along with the other features, provide users with an efficient, dependable and economical tool for making reliable hydraulic assemblies."

In addition, Goodyear has introduced a new operator controller option for its Perma-Crimp PC200 2-inch and PC400 4-inch crimpers that is capable of storing crimp and die selections for more than 100 hose specifications, utilizing touch-screen technology for entering data and making crimp adjustments.

"We believe our latest crimper offerings will give Goodyear hydraulics distributors an added advantage in the marketplace," Watts said.

Goodyear Engineered Products also manufactures and markets industrial hose, conveyor belts, power transmission products and air springs.
