Goodrich to Provide 'Gun Hard' Inertial Measurement Unit for Excalibur Phase 1b

o Inertial measurement performance proven during Phase 1a

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 27, 2010 -- Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) will continue to supply its gun hard inertial measurement unit for the Raytheon Excalibur precision-guided artillery round. The U.S. Army recently announced the selection of Raytheon for phase 1b of the Excalibur program. The inertial measurement unit (IMU) provides accurate guidance data for the artillery round throughout flight and is supplied by Plymouth, UK-based Atlantic Inertial Systems (AIS), which became part of Goodrich's Sensors and Integrated Systems business in December 2009. The program potential is in the thousands of Excalibur systems.

In March 2009, AIS was selected to supply SiIMU02®, the latest variant of its gun hard IMU for the Excalibur 1a phase of the program. This proven IMU is currently the only unit available worldwide that is capable of withstanding 20,000g during firing and remaining fully functional - enabling reliable, consistent and precise guidance of the munition.

"We're excited about continuing our relationship with Raytheon on this prestigious U.S. program," said Stuart Cooper, AIS Business Director for Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems. "Accuracy is critical for today's military operations. Our inertial measurement technology is a key contributor to the Excalibur's 3 meter CEP, or circle error of probability delivery performance," he added.

AIS has supplied over 1,500 SiIMU02 products to date for Excalibur 1a since deliveries began in May 2009 and is under contract to deliver up to 3,000 additional units. Phase 1b is expected to require a further 6,000 units with deliveries commencing in 2012.

AIS inertial measurement products have become the preferred choice of modern precision guidance and navigation, offering the ability to sense and accurately measure rotational and linear movement. The company is a market leader in MEMS based inertial systems with more than 20,000 MEMS units in use today on a wide range of military platforms.
