Edmund Industrial Optics Announces Metric Goniometers

July 29, 2002, Barrington, NJ - Edmund Industrial Optics has announced the release of Metric Goniometers which use an arc sliding in a carriage to make precise angular changes about a fixed point.

To achieve movement in two axes, stack two goniometers with the second rotated 90°. In order for the two goniometers to move about a common point, the lower goniometer must have a larger radius of movement, and the one stacked on it must have a specific, smaller radius such that the two goniometers' centers of motion meet at a common point. All goniometers feature dovetail design for precision movement, and a Vernier scale for high resolution, repeatable motion. A thumbscrew locks the goniometer stage securely in place.

The goniometers are available in four models; are made of durable, black anodized brass; and have a load capacity of 3.5kg (40 X 40mm stage) or 5.0kg (60 X 60mm stage). Radii from 47mm to 95mm are available, and resolutions from 0.1° to 0.2° are offered. Travel is either ±15 or ±20°.
