Globalstar Launches Simplex Data Service and Backoffice for Customers in Central America

Service Ideal for Seamless Maritime, Remote Asset Tracking and Data Monitoring Applications

MILPITAS, Calif., April 24 -- Globalstar, Inc. (NASDAQ:GSAT), a leading provider of mobile satellite voice and data services to businesses, government and individuals, announced today that it has launched Globalstar Simplex data service to customers throughout Central America and the surrounding maritime region. Globalstar Simplex data is a one-way satellite service, which is ideal for providing cost-efficient and reliable asset tracking and fleet management solutions to customers from remote regions beyond the reach of traditional wireless and terrestrial communications infrastructure.

Globalstar Simplex data allows customers to monitor and track mobile assets such as vehicles, tractor-trailers, cargo containers and marine vessels, using GPS or other location-based software. The service can also be used to monitor various stationary assets for location or data monitoring applications. It is also one of the mobile satellite service provider's fastest growing and dynamic areas of the business. In 2006 the Globalstar Simplex data customer base grew by over 150 percent over the previous year.

"Globalstar once again demonstrates the commitment to our corporate strategy of providing uniform satellite voice and data services to our customers by expanding our capabilities in various regions throughout the world," said Steven Bell, Senior Vice President of International Sales, Marketing and Customer Care for Globalstar, Inc. Mr. Bell added, "When a simplex data modem is integrated with a GPS monitoring device, then a vessel monitoring and location solution can be easily produced. Using the simplex data applique located at our gateway ground station facility in South America plus our Globalstar back office infrastructure, we can provide our customers with an easy to use web based mapping tool to seamlessly track the locations of assets such as fishing vessels or tractor trailers, without them having to worry about service issues caused by borders. We can also provide a variety of land-based and marine monitoring solutions used for such applications as maritime sand extraction."

Globalstar has offered Simplex data service in the U.S. and Canada since 2003, and throughout Europe, the Middle East and across the north Atlantic region since early 2005. More recently Globalstar extended its Simplex data coverage to include Australia, Central America and parts of South America. Earlier this year, Globalstar also announced that simplex data integrator Axonn had launched a new smaller and lighter satellite simplex data modem known as the AXTracker MMT. The new completely self-contained satellite data modem is designed to communicate via the Globalstar satellite simplex data network.
