Glass Reinforced Hazardous Area Approved Junction Boxes

The GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) junction box enclosures from cable specialist Kabex are IECEx certified (increased Safety for non-sparking application - terminal enclosures) meaning they are suitable for use in petrochemical, oil gas, shipbuilding, chemical, fertiliser, paint and solvent, sugar, LNG, power and mining industries along with anywhere else where non-sparking applications are mandatory.

These GRP junction box enclosures are lower in cost, lighter in weight whilst also being extremely strong and are available in 5 different sizes.

Their Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester (GRP) bodies means they are not only extremely strong with a long life expectancy but are also highly resistant to contamination from industrial chemical such as oils, fats, aliphatic solvents whilst also being suitable for use in LSOH (low smoke zero halogen) applications.

According to James Smith, Manager of Kabex, “These GRP junction boxes are not only high in strength and long in life expectancy but as they are hazardous areas products, the high costs required for gaining certification -at least $50k per product series - and the time to achieve certification - at least 12 months per product series- along with the ongoing quality scrutiny process means they are quite unique to what is currently available in Australia”.

These enclosures are suitable for use within hazardous areas and can be supplied with certificates such as ATEX and IECEx.

The main technical features of the GRP junction boxes include:
