Andersen Introduces High Performance(TM) Low-E4(TM) Glass

Next Generation Glass Technology Delivers Performance, Comfort and Convenience

BAYPORT, Minn., Jan. 11 / -- Andersen Windows, Inc. introduces High Performance(TM) Low-E4(TM) glass, the next generation of energy-efficient, low-maintenance glass. Low-E4 features an innovative exterior coating that, when activated by sunlight, helps reduce dirt build-up and water spots, and promotes faster drying. Low-E4 glass is exclusive to Andersen(R) windows and doors, and will be a standard feature on Andersen 400 Series products.

Low-E4 glass also features Andersen protective film, a clear protective film applied to the interior and exterior sides of the glass during manufacturing to provide additional protection against shipping and installation hazards as well as construction site debris. It is easily removed and helps reduce clean-up time after installation.

"For over a century, Andersen has continually improved the performance of windows and doors," said Rod Krois, window marketing director at Andersen. "Low-E4 glass is the next generation of glass technology. Combined with our low-maintenance exteriors and 20/10 limited warranty, our customers now have less to worry about when it comes to owning and maintaining their homes."

Andersen Low-E4 glass features proven energy saving technology to help reduce heating and cooling bills. Low-E4 glass is, on average, 41 percent more energy efficient in summer and 35 percent more energy efficient in winter than standard dual-pane glass.

Its transparent metallic Low-E coatings, which are applied to one of the glass surfaces within the airspace, deflect radiant heat and let in visible light. The glass coatings also can reduce glare and cut ultra-violet light by 83 percent, offering improved protection from fading for interior fabrics and furnishings.

A Long History of Innovation

Andersen has been a leader in glass innovation for decades. It was the first window company to introduce insulated glass (1952) and Low-E glass (1983), and today offers one of the largest window and door glass packages in the industry. Andersen glazing options also include laminated monolithic glass, dual-pane insulated glass, and decorative art glass in eleven patterns, including four Frank Lloyd Wright(R) designs, available exclusively for windows and doors made by Andersen.
