Glass Flow Cell targets ultrasonic emulsifying applications.

Press Release Summary:

Providing flow rate of approximately 1 lpm, Ultrasonic Glass Reactor Vessel offers clear visibility of cavitational process. Unit features 2 feedports on bottom side, which can supply 2 immiscible fluids into vessel. Fluid exits flow cell by discharge port on left side after passing cavitational hot spot generated at sonotrode. To control processing temperature, cooling or heating liquid can be pumped through cooling jacket.

Hielscher Ultrasonics: Brand New Glass Flow Cell for Ultrasonic Emulsifying

Hielscher Ultrasonics launches a new glass flow cell. This novel reactor augments the wide product range of accessories for Hielscher's ultrasonic processors. It offer clear visibility of the cavitational process. The ultrasonic glass reactor vessel features two feedports on the bottom side, which are for the supply of the material into the reactor vessel (marked by red liquid on the picture). By the discharge port on the left side above, the fluid exits the flow cell after passing the cavitational "hot spot" generated at the sonotrode. In this hot spot, the medium is treated by the intense cavitational forces, by that the various processes, such as homogenizing, dispersing, emulsifying, sono-chemical and sono-catalytical effects, are achieved. With its two supply ports, the ultrasonic glass reactor is ideal to emulsify by ultrasonication as it can be fed with two immiscible fluids.

The blue liquid on the picture marks the cooling jacket of the flow cell, through which a cooling or heating liquid can be pumped to control the processing temperature.
The glass flow cell can be adapted by a special flange to the sonotrodes of the UIP500hd, UIP1000hd, UIP1500hd and UIP2000hd. The processing capacity allows flow rates of approx. 1L/min. In conclusion, the new glass flow cell made by Hielscher is an adjuvant accessory, especially if the visibility of the cavitational process is of interest. This is especially required for a better understanding during the testing of novel processes - e.g. in R&D.
