Legrand/Pass & Seymour Introduces Isolated Ground GFCI

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Legrand/Pass & Seymour (P&S), a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, announces the availability of the first Isolated Ground GFCI Receptacle. Designed to meet the needs of expanded National Electrical Code® (NEC) requirements for GFCI protection, the Isolated Ground GFCI minimizes electrical interference from a building's ground system.

Computers and other electronic equipment are increasingly common and can be sensitive to electrical interference. The NEC has expanded requirements for GFCI protection onto circuits that serve this equipment, most of which require isolated ground protection to protect from electrical interference. Two examples are cash registers in fast food restaurants and computerized equipment in labs. Installations such as these drive the need for Isolated Ground GFCI Receptacles.

"The P&S Isolated Ground GFCI is the best way to meet this increasing demand for isolated ground and GFCI protection on the same circuit" said Bill Timmons, marketing manager of residential products for Legrand/Pass & Seymour.

The Isolated Ground offering includes 15A and 20A Tamper-Resistant Duplex Receptacles. Hospital Grade models are available. All devices have a high-impact-resistant, thermoplastic construction for superior strength and durability. An LED Trip Indicator light makes it easy to identify a tripped condition, while P&S patented SafeLock(TM) Protection shuts off power to the receptacle if there's a ground fault, if there's a miswire, or if GFCI protection is compromised.

P&S invented the first GFCI Receptacle in 1971.
