McGill's New In-Line Portable GFCI Protects up to Three Tools

ROSEMONT, IL, MARCH 2, 2006 - To ensure workers of unparalleled protection against electrical shocks, McGill today introduced a portable in-line triple-tap Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) with an easy-to-manage two-foot cable and a heavy-duty design that withstands the rigors of outdoor construction sites and harsh industrial environments.

The GFCI is 120V/15A rated with a manual reset, making it ideal for use with up to three power tools, such as drills, saws, sanders and sprayers. It detects and shuts off dangerous electrical currents (4-6 mA trip level) in less than .025 seconds to prevent injury or electrocution resulting from water, frayed insulation or damaged power cords.

The SJT 12/3 AWG cable incorporates rugged NEMA 5-15 plugs on the line side along with an attached molded T-head power block of three NEMA 5-15 receptacles on the load end. While the two-foot cable is long enough to easily accommodate up to three tools, its shorter length helps prevent tangles, storage problems and employee mishaps.

This new GFCI is manufactured to standards that meet or exceed UL requirements. It complies with OSHA, CSA and the National Electrical Code.
