GF AgieCharmilles to Debut the CUT 20 Wire EDM at WESTEC 2008

Lincolnshire, Illinois, February 1, 2008 - GF AgieCharmilles will display its latest innovations in milling and wire and die-sinking EDM at WESTEC 2008. Among the products featured in booth #3228 is the CUT 20, a wire-cutting EDM that joins machine speed with affordability. GF AgieCharmilles' wide array of products and solutions will be on display from March 31 - April 3 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, CA.

Making its trade show debut in the United States is the GF AgieCharmilles CUT 20 wire EDM. The CUT 20 combines outstanding EDM performance with remarkable ease of use. The new and intuitive HMI (human-machine interface) is built on a Windows XP platform, and is designed with "non-EDM experts" in mind. Adding to the smart design of control is the proven performance of the Swiss-made IPG-V generator. The generator's tried, tested and reliable electronics makes extremely fast removal rates possible, even with economical brass wire. The low energy consumption and the long working life of the wear parts reduce operating costs and ensure profitability.

Efficient and fully equipped, GF AgieCharmilles' VCE 800 Pro-X vertical machining center substantially reduces machining times, offers repeatable measuring results and lessens the difficulty of producing items like thin-walled workpieces. Designed for universal applications, the machining center is able to withstand the challenge of machining both hard and soft molds while producing cost-effective volume chip removal and high quality surfaces. Equipped with a 16,000 rpm Step-Tec inline motor spindle, the machine achieves an output of 15kW with nearly 100 Nm torque.

GF AgieCharmilles FO350 MicroTEC is an innovation in diesinking EDM that drastically improves precision, productivity and speed. The MicroTEC discharge circuitry and double thermostabilization provide for increased accuracy and reduced electrode undersizes. Additionally, the machine's DPControl and Expert systems afford greater user control and lower wear rates.

The Brother HS-70AM wire EDM will also be on display in the GF AgieCharmilles booth. Equipped with an AE (anti-electrolysis) Generator, linear glass scales and larger workpiece capacity of 770 lbs., the HS-70A offers the best value for stamping tool and die, medical applications (titanium alloys), production parts and form tools, including PCD. Additionally, the Brother machine possesses taper cutting up to 30 degrees and new CNC features, providing even higher levels of versatility for all general engineering applications.
