Gerresheimer Is Showcasing Innovative Glass and Plastic Devices at Pharmapack 2014

Düsseldorf/Paris - Gerresheimer is exhibiting its entire portfolio of standard and special products for the pharma and healthcare industries at Pharmapack Paris on February 12 and 13 (stand 702). One of the key exhibits is a standard interface for mounting pre-fillable glass syringes in devices.

Gerresheimer specializes in reliable primary packaging for pharmaceuticals made of materials that are ideal for the product application. Glass and plastic pharmaceutical packaging products are suitable for most liquid and solid medications.

Peter Wallrabe, Managing Director of Gerresheimer Item, will be making a presentation on February 13 at 4.15 p.m. on the "Standard Interface for Mounting Pre-fillable Glass Syringes in Drug Delivery Devices," which considerably simplifies the integration of syringes in the devices while minimizing risks and saving costs.

Gerresheimer also has innovative and safe solutions for new parenteral drugs with alkaline pH ranges or toxic pharmaceuticals. The new Gx1 MultiShell1 vials unite the best properties of plastic and glass in a new, high quality container for liquid medications. They are made of COP/polyamide/COP (cyclic olefin polymer) in a sandwich structure. These multi-layer vials are far more break-resistant than glass vials.

The COP ClearJect syringes are also among the Gerresheimer flagship products at Pharmapack. Heavy metal-free COP is perfect as a primary packaging for sensitive medications for oncology, ophthalmology and other fields of medicine.

Gerresheimer is renowned for its pre-fillable Gx RTF1 syringes made of tubular glass. Pre-fillable syringes are available as bulk products and in ready-to-fill format, which means that they are washed, siliconized, pre-assembled and sterilized.

The Duma1 OneLiner is a twist-off closure developed by Gerresheimer specifically for the US market with the mandatory foil seal. The containers with and without integrated seal are completely identical on the outside. This means that tablet manufacturers who serve both the European and US markets now no longer need to set up their filling machines for different packaging types.

The product portfolio also includes drug delivery and diagnostic systems, as well as plastic medical technology products. Gerresheimer delivers a fully comprehensive range of services extending from the initial design sketches through tool engineering, automation technology and production to packaging and international logistics.

Gerresheimer has an extensive range of glass primary packaging products for the pharmaceutical industry. It includes molded glass products such as vials, dropper and syrup bottles in diverse market and needs-oriented designs. It also produces borosilicate tubing as the input material for numerous high quality specialty products such as ampoules, vials and cartridges. Thus, it offers an almost fully comprehensive range of transparent and amber glass for pharmaceutical packaging.

1 GX, Duma, MultiShell and RTF are registered trademarks of the Gerresheimer Group.
