GENTECH Receives Certification for Advanced Fire Protection Solutions

Addressable fire systems to facilitate easier insurance compliance and encourage higher standards of fire protection in UAE

GENTECH, a member of the 25-year-old electromechanical and civil contracting company GENINT group, has announced that the design standards of its new addressable fire systems have recently been certified by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Civil Defence Authority (CDA), in a move predicted to encourage higher standards of fire protection throughout the UAE.

The new alarm system, which is the first of its kind in the UAE, incorporates unique notifying technology called Exit Point(TM) to clearly guide people to the nearest exit when the alarm is activated. The intelligent fire detection system, which is suitable for hotels and hospitals, malls, large factories, warehouses, schools, universities and other multifunctional buildings, also provides information on the exact location of the source of the detection.

In addition, GENTECH's first vision(TM) fire system has also been certified, which enables fire fighters to find specific information on the source of the fire alarm via a small screen installed near the entrance of a building. The screen will display information such as source of the detection, fastest route to the fire, and other exit points; crucial information for fire fighters, particularly when watchmen or building management systems are not available.

The new certification comes at an opportune time for regional developers and suppliers, who are under increasing pressure from government authorities to comply with strict standards that ensure comprehensive and effective fire protection in all buildings.

"The introduction of our new range of products such as Exit Point(TM) and First Vision(TM) will not only ensure a faster and more effective evacuation in the unfortunate event of a fire, but will also assist the firemen in finding out important details to tackle the fire, thereby significantly reducing the probability of loss of property or life. In addition, the products will also facilitate insurance compliance and reduce long-term maintenance costs, as we only provide durable and technologically-advanced systems that ensure the highest level of confidence and cost-efficiency in the long run," said Sameh Awad, Business Development Director, GENTECH.

"Timeliness is everything in an emergency, which is why it is our mission to educate our target markets about the long-term benefits of proper safety systems," Awad added.

The company, which has offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, supplies products and solutions to many of the region's leading companies, in sectors such as military, civil defence, police, water and electricity, universities, real estate and hospitality. GENTECH operates in three core divisions of fire protection and low current systems; facility maintenance; and water treatment.

GENTECH is also the distributor for leading international companies such as the US-based NOTIFIER, which manufactures fire alarm systems; Germany-based TOTAL WALTHER, which specializes in fire fighting equipment & systems; and ROUCHTEC, which specializes in manufacturing UL listed Sprinkler Heads
