Cummins Power Generation Genset Enclosures Lower Installation Costs


MINNEAPOLIS - Cummins Power Generation has introduced a new line of skin-tight weather protective and sound attenuated enclosures for its 230 kW to 500 kW generator sets that is designed to speed installations and reduce costs. The new enclosure line is being manufactured by Cummins at its Fridley, MN, factory and has a host of standard features and options.

"These new factory-made enclosures will assure customers that generator set installations will proceed smoothly and economically, and that the generator sets will have optimum weather protection," says Charlotte Hanley, Marketing Manager, Cummins Power Generation. "The new enclosures offer many of the
features of custom-designed products, plus have the added benefits of lower cost, perfect fit and prompt delivery with the generator set. Eventually, factory-made enclosures will be available for most models."

Standard features for the new weather protective and sound attenuated enclosures include all-steel construction, stainless steel hardware, lockable access doors, protected exhaust system, and side-mounted generator controls. In addition, there will be flex connections on the exhaust pipes, and oil and coolant drains will be piped to the exterior but have interior valves.

Optional features include two levels of sound attenuation, motorized louvers, a pre-wired AC distribution panel, a cold weather package, sub-base fuel tanks with up to 72 hours of fuel, and a choice of tan or green protective paint. Non- corrosive enclosure materials and designs to withstand wind loading levels up to 150 mph are also available as options.
