Improve Productivity with Dorner's Newly Re-designed Gear Boxes

HARTLAND, Wis., (June 21, 2002) - Dorner Manufacturing Corporation's newly re-designed gear boxes come with slick features and yet solves a slick problem.

The new gear boxes are the latest example of Dorner's responsiveness to customers by solving a common industry problem - leakage. The dilemma traces back to its previous gear boxes, which weren't fully sealed units. In time and with general wear-and-tear, some gear boxes began to leak oil.

To add flexibility for its customers and ultimately fix the leakage problem, Dorner engineers devised a new type of gear drive housed in a completely sealed, maintenance-free unit. Dorner has been testing these new gear boxes, compatible with all its conveyor platforms, in companies across the country for the past year with promising results.

"We've seen dramatic improvements in the field testing in that the new gear boxes have virtually eliminated the problem," said Mike Hosch, Dorner engineering manager. "Ultimately this will save our customers money."

Other features of the re-designed gear box include:

- A hollow bore output shaft for left-hand, right-hand and dual shaft requirements.

- Ability to be mounted in any position specific to customers' application.

- Modular, motor input design to accept NEMA 42C or 56C and IEC 63B5 or 71B5 for the ultimate utility in motor compatibility.

- Gear ratios of five, 10, 20, 40 and 60:1 available.

- Motor options up to one horsepower available.
