GE Fanuc Embedded Systems to Demonstrate Range of Aviation Solutions at Paris Air Show

Rugged embedded computing boards and subsystems

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, June 11th 2007 At this year's International Paris Air Show (Le Bourget, Paris: June 18-24) GE Fanuc Embedded Systems will demonstrate the company's broadening range of rugged COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) solutions for the aviation industry.

Located at Hall 4, booth C3, the company will showcase its recently-announced family of 6U CompactPCI rugged, low power dissipation single board computers featuring Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo or Core(TM) Duo processors. The new family supports both a 32- and 64-bit processor architecture, and is designed to operate in a temperature range of -40°C to +75°C (depending on configured options), with the CR11 being optionally available as a rugged version with stiffener bars and wedge locks or in conduction-cooled form. All three boards are PICMG 2.1 compliant for hot swap capability.

"Embedded computing applications in aviation are among the most challenging in the world," said Adrian Bernard, Managing Director, EMEA for GE Fanuc Embedded Systems, "not least because of the harsh environments in which they are deployed. As a leader in commercial off-the-shelf embedded computing, a pioneer in ruggedization and with the industry's broadest product range, we have a great deal to offer companies who are working in both civilian and military aerospace applications. We're looking forward to showing the breadth and depth of our capability to visitors to the Paris Air Show."

Also featured on the GE Fanuc Embedded Systems booth will be the MAGIC1 Rugged Display Computer. The MAGIC1 is a complete, rugged, integrated subsystem that comprises the SBC340 single board computer and GRA110 graphics processor, and makes NVIDIA PCI Express graphics capability available to the harsh environment computing market for the first time, enabling the development and deployment of significantly more sophisticated display applications than has previously been possible.

In addition to the CP11/CR11/CX11 Core(TM) Duo-based single board computers and the MAGIC1 Rugged Display Computer, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems will show a representative selection of the recently-announced family of Neternity rugged switches, products specifically designed for deployment in ARINC 664 and 1553 environments, and the PASSS 3200 bus analyzer.
