GE Energy to Provide LM6000-PD Aeroderivative Gas Turbine for One of the Largest Independent Power Producers in the Czech Republic

HOUSTON, TEXAS-September 20, 2006-One of the most modern heat and power complexes in the Czech Republic will receive a GE Energy LM6000-PD Sprint® aeroderivative gas turbine generator set. GE will provide Skoda Praha, a Czech power engineering company, with the gas turbine for installation at the Kladno gas turbine plant located in an industrial park west of Prague.

Kladno's existing complex uses two circulating fluid bed boilers and associated turbines to provide electricity to the local distributor, Stredoceska Energeticka and customers in an adjacent industrial park. Heat is also supplied in the form of hot water to the municipality. The new turbine will add to the existing 380 megawatts already installed at the Kladno complex and will be used to provide reserve capacity for the national grid network.

The LM6000-PD gas turbine generator is rated at approximately 43.5 megawatts at 40+ percent efficiency at 15 degrees Celsius ambient. It is equipped with a dry low emissions combustion system. Natural gas will serve as the primary fuel source. The unit will operate in simple cycle for peak power operation.

The LM6000-PD Sprint aeroderivative gas turbine will be manufactured at the GE industrial aeroderivative gas turbine facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. The overall package construction and testing will be conducted at the GE Energy packaging facility in Houston, Texas. The gas turbine is expected to begin commercial operation during the fourth quarter of 2006.

"Kladno's new gas turbine will provide flexible, fast and reliable capacity to maintain stability within Prague's national grid. Skoda Praha chose GE Energy's LM6000-PD because of the proven technology and quality service," said Charles (Chip) Blankenship, general manager of GE Energy's aeroderivative division.
