GE Energy Provides Distributed Control System for Plant in Inner Mongolia

COLOGNE, GERMANY - May 30, 2006 - GE Energy has supplied and installed its distributed control system (DCS) technology for a newly constructed combined-cycle power plant at the Inner Mongolia Solig Gas Power Co., Ltd.'s facility in Dabuchake town, Wushengqi Eruduosi city in the Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia. The announcement was made today at Power Gen Europe 2006 in Cologne, Germany.

The DCS system was installed at the Solig plant to perform balance-of-plant control and to link to a 126-megawatt GE PG9171E gas turbine, which is controlled by a Mark VI control system. The gas turbine and long-term supporting services were included in a comprehensive equipment and service package provided by GE Energy under a separate contract.

The DCS system also controls the heat recovery steam generators, the electrical system and the circulating water controls for Inner Mongolia's units #1 and #2. The control system of unit # 1 entered commercial operation on April 24, 2006.

"By standardizing on a single supplier for our plant, we will be able to get the best quality service as well as a reduction in maintenance and operation costs," said Mr. Yue Jianhua, chief director of the Solig project and vice chief engineer from Inner Mongolia Power (Group) Co., Ltd., which is the owner of the Solig project. "GE evaluated our plant requirements and provided a solution which aligned with our operational values for performance and competitiveness."

"The application of our DCS to the Solig project in Inner Mongolia continues to express our commitment to this region," said Daniel Heintzelman, president of GE Energy's services business. "Our reputation as a provider of best-in-class turbine controls is clearly being extended into our technology for plant controls."
As the first gas power generation plant in Inner Mongolia, phase one of the Solig project started on October 31, 2004 and includes two sets of combined-cycle units. Unit #2 will be put into commercial operation in early July 2006.

GE Energy's Asia operations center for its control solutions business is located in Shanghai, China.
