GE Energy Expands Gas Turbine Inlet Filtration Portfolio

COLOGNE, GERMANY - May 30, 2006 - GE Energy now offers a comprehensive portfolio of gas turbine inlet filtration solutions due, in large part, to the recent acquisition of Altair Filter Technology Group Limited. This expanded product line establishes GE as the only OEM that makes both the turbine and the inlet system for heavy-duty gas turbines.

GE's previous gas turbine inlet filtration expertise had been centered on self-cleaning/pulse-jet technology, while Altair's core competence is static filtration, with over 2,000 installations worldwide. Altair products also feature innovative techniques for the removal of water and airborne salt. These contaminants can impair turbine performance and cause blade damage, particularly in challenging offshore and marine applications. These technical advances now are providing GE Energy with effective solutions for land-based air inlets, including protection from humidity and
fog.

Combined with GE's existing inlet filter offerings, the expanded portfolio is now one of the most extensive available, with products designed for nearly every application and environment. Altair products are an excellent fit with GE Energy's existing environmental services portfolio, which includes fuel and air monitoring and conditioning, combustion control, post-combustion control construction and pollutant monitoring and testing.

"Customers worldwide will continue to receive the high level of service that they have come to expect from Altair and GE Energy," said Dan Heintzelman, president of GE Energy's services business. "With our combined technological expertise, we plan to step up our development and delivery of innovative products and bring exciting new solutions to our customers sooner."

Based in Alton, U.K., with operations in Louisville, Ky., U.S.A., Altair was established in 1966 and acquired by GE Energy in February 2006. In addition to filtration systems, the Altair product line includes inlet silencers and ductwork, acoustic packages, turbine inlet cooling and ventilation systems and structural steelwork.
