Gateway Desktops and Servers to Offer Intel® Quad-Core Processors

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 14 -- Gateway, Inc., the nation's third-largest PC vendor, will offer the powerful new Intel® Core(TM) 2 Extreme quad-core processor on its consumer desktops and the new Intel® Xeon® quad-core processor on servers. These new Intel processors deliver breakthrough performance for a wide variety of both consumer and business applications.

Delivering maximum performance and reliability to customers, Gateway is offering factory warranted over-clocking capabilities on two of its high-performance FX530 Series desktops which feature the new quad-core processor. These systems are fully tested and backed by a Gateway limited warranty(1). Unlike most other major PC OEMs, Gateway will provide a warranty on these systems, providing a previously unavailable level of support while delivering new performance heights.

The new Intel Core 2 Extreme quad-core processor QX6700 is available in the Gateway FX530XT and FX530XL desktops beginning today. The new processor delivers vast performance and digital media benefits for entertainment and productivity, including processor intensive digital video and photo rendering, gaming, and computer aided design.

The Gateway FX530 Series is the ultimate machine for customers such as digital creation enthusiasts, serious PC gamers and tech-savvy PC users demanding a first-rate PC experience. The new high-performance desktop PC line delivers a true breakthrough in computing, as it couples leading Intel processors with support for cutting-edge ATI RADEON x1950 and x1900 CrossFire Edition Graphics. In addition to factory warranted over-clocking capabilities, it offers some of the most advanced storage technologies. Enveloping the cutting-edge technology is a new chassis design that brings a distinctly cutting-edge look and feel to the FX series.

"Our new Gateway FX530 desktop series delivers extreme speed and performance thanks in part to Intel's powerful new quad-core processor," said Todd Titera, Gateway product manager, desktops. "Early product reviews from leading industry publications have already recognized and commended the FX530 for its outstanding value, cutting-edge technologies, and warranted CPU overclocking. In addition to the supercharged performance and value the FX530 delivers, our customers will be thrilled with the crisp, realistic graphics and audio for a truly extraordinary gaming and multimedia experience."

The new Intel Xeon quad-core processor 5300 Series will be offered in Gateway's existing two-way 1U and 2U rack servers and performance tower. Providing up to 50 percent better performance (SPECintRate(2)) than today's dual-core, two-way Xeon processors, the new quad-core processor delivers breakthrough performance and capabilities per watt for the ultimate in powerful, dense and energy-efficient general purpose servers. Gateway will begin sales of servers featuring the quad-core Xeon processors in the fourth quarter of 2006, with shipments following immediately thereafter.

"Our highest priority is to deliver the industry's best technology to meet the evolving needs of our business customers," said Tim Diefenthaler, Gateway senior director, product management. "Intel Xeon quad-core processors will fuel our latest servers with energy-efficient, yet extremely powerful performance to make the most of our customer's time and investment."

"Intel and Gateway both work continuously to develop leading-edge solutions for customers," says Greg Pearson, vice president, Sales and Marketing Group and President, Intel Americas, Inc. "These Gateway systems featuring the new Intel quad-core processors represent a culmination in that effort. These leading-edge desktop and server platforms deliver excellent performance and power efficiency for business and consumer users alike."
