Gassonic Ultrasonic Gas Leak Detectors at ADIPEC 2010

Join us and see our NEW technical handbook with detailed engineering guidelines

General Monitors Middle East, with local representative Trizac Abu Dhabi, will be showcasing its full range of Gassonic ultrasonic gas leak detectors along with a new technical handbook at the ADIPEC exhibition in Abu Dhabi, 1st -4th November.

Ultrasonic Gas Leak Detectors (UGLD) are used in pressurized gas applications to complement conventional gas detection methods. In outdoor or ventilated locations, conventional detectors may miss gas leaks due to wind conditions, gas dilution, or leak directionality. Since the UGLD's pick up high pressure gas leaks by responding to the airborne ultrasound, they do not rely on physical contact between the gas and the sensing element. This significantly improves total speed of response to dangerous high pressure gas leaks.

A new technical handbook has been developed to support engineers for implementing ultrasonic gas leak detection within Oil and Gas facilities. The handbook captures data with respect to specific gases and application areas. It also provides step-by-step suggestion on how to integrate these detectors based on plant layouts, instructions on detection coverage, how they can be voted with other detector types, and other important considerations.

The Gassonic detectors are based on stainless steel electret condenser microphone technology, which ensures a high degree of reliability. The most advanced detector models feature the Senssonic(TM) self-test, a patented solid state self-test mechanism to validate operation at all times. The detectors have a detection radius up to 20 meters at a leak rate of 0.1 kg/s. The detectors hold relevant Ex and FM approvals and they are suitable for use in SIL 2 applications.

Gassonic UGLD's have a large installed base in the Middle East and the detectors have proven remarkable robustness in the harsh desert environment. First installations in the region date back to 1998 and thereafter, detectors have been installed in the Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and UAE. The detectors are installed in locations such as gas plants, offshore platforms, compressor stations, and on remote wellheads.
