Gore Launches New Soft and Highly Conductive EMI Sheilding Gaskets
Elkton, Md. (September, 2002) W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc., a leading supplier of EMI shielding solutions, launches the GORE-SHIELD® GS8000 EMI gaskets. The gaskets are ideal for applications that require conformability, excellent inter-cavity EMI shielding, and superior conductivity at low compressive forces.
The gaskets low closure force makes them suitable for flexible housing materials and allows for reduction of screw locations. Less than 3.4 N/cm of pressure (for a 1mm trace) is required to compress the gaskets from a nominal starting thickness of 1 mm to a compressed thickness of 0.4 mm. At this point, DC resistance is less than 10 mOhm for a 19 mm² donut, and shielding effectiveness is greater than 90 dB.
The high conformability of the gaskets accommodates molding tolerances and minimizes stress on the housing and printed circuit board. The gaskets can accommodate a variation in the gap height of up to 0.2mm while maintaining low DC resistance and high shielding effectiveness.
