GE Oil & Gas Launches LM6000 Enhanced Package, Expanding its Portfolio of Mechanical Drive Solutions for LNG Applications

HOUSTON, TEXAS - September 15, 2009 - GE Oil & Gas, a world leading company in oil and gas advanced technology equipment and services, has introduced its LM6000 Enhanced Package - a new offering for offshore and onshore applications, which builds on more than 16 million hours of experience compiled by GE's LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbine fleet.

The new LM6000 package can produce more than 40 megawatts, which fills a niche in the offshore mechanical drive sector and further expands the GE Oil & Gas aeroderivative gas turbine solutions portfolio. It offers enhanced reliability and availability, reduced footprint and weight, ease of maintenance and reduced installation and commissioning times - all key factors for offshore applications, such as floating LNG.

In addition to offshore LNG production, other key market segments for the new package will be onshore liquefaction, natural gas and pipeline compression applications.

"Global demand for LNG is expected to double by 2020, with countries like Australia poised to develop a growing number of LNG projects. This means midstream LNG and pipeline transportation infrastructure will need to be expanded, to support regional growth, particularly in developing markets," said Joe Mastrangelo, vice president - Turbomachinery for GE Oil & Gas. "Our new LM6000 package expands our capabilities to help our customers meet those growing market opportunities."

The LM6000 Enhanced Package is designed for reliable operation in remote locations and under extreme conditions, while reducing operating costs and minimizing environmental impact.

The integrated package features the LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbine coupled with a centrifugal compressor for mechanical drive duty. The LM6000 has been proven in a wide range of applications; more than 800 units have been installed worldwide. The latest technology has evolved from GE's vast experience with both aircraft engines and aeroderivative gas turbines.

Operating at more than 42% efficiency, the LM6000 offers a Dry Low Emissions combustor that limits nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions to 15 parts per million at 15% O2, a best-in-class performance for aeroderivative gas turbines.

Design of the new LM6000 package was supported by GE's Industrial Aeroderivative business. The engine will be manufactured at GE Energy's aeroderivative manufacturing site in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S., while the package will be assembled at GE Oil & Gas facilities in Massa, Italy.
