Lumex Introduces New Family of Compact Surface-Mount Gas Tube Arrestors
PALATINE, IL-Lumex is announcing its new family of gas tube arresters featuring surface mount technology (SMT) packaging. The GT-SMD1812 Series are among the smallest gas tube arresters available from any manufacturer. Measuring just 4.50mm x 3.20mm (0.177 inch x 0.126 inch), these devices provide the same high-performance surge and spike protection as conventional gas tube arresters, but in a compact SMT package which fits into small spaces, and which can be inexpensively surface mounted using standard reflow techniques. Lumex SMT Gas Tube Arresters are ideal for a wide range of circuit protection applications including central office or PBX telephone circuits, voice and data lines, solid-state circuitry, or anywhere protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD) or switching surges is needed.
Lumex's new GT-SMD1812 Series are available with DC breakdown voltage ratings of 150, 200, 300, 350, and 400VDC (with a slew rate of l00V/sec), and each of these are offered with either 1,000 or 2,000-amp impulse current ratings. These hermetically-sealed units are UL Listed under file # E245199. They have an insulation resistance of 104 MegOhm (minimum), and an inter-electrode capacitance of just 1.0pF (maximum), for minimal disturbance of high-frequency or high-impedance data lines.
Lumex SMT Gas Tube Arresters are furnished in quantities of 500 pieces, on standard 12mm-wide tape compatible with automatic insertion equipment. Their unique flat-top packaging makes them much easier to pick-and-place than conventional round-top units.
