Original Press Release:

Single-Button Safety with New Four-Gas Monitor

(MILFORD, OH) - Crowcon has designed a completely new personal gas monitor for simple use in demanding conditions. Monitoring up to four gases, Tetra has a single button to control all functions, and a backlit "at-a-glance" display giving simultaneous viewing of all gas readings, alarm conditions and battery life. This makes it very easy for users to operate.

Tetra is easily customized for different applications: intelligent, user-changeable sensors for a wide range of gases are precalibrated to allow "plug and play" operation. Sensors are available for oxygen, flammable gas and a full range of toxic gases, including all hazards commonly encountered in confined spaces.

If a hazard is detected, Tetra gives rapid and effective warning of the presence of gas. The user is alerted by extremely bright blue and red LED beacons and a powerful 85 dBA alarm. Alarm tones are adjustable to ensure easy discrimination from noisy machinery. An integral vibrating alarm is also a standard feature.

Despite its compact size and low weight of around 1lb, Tetra is very rugged. The shatterproof plastic housing is overmolded with rubber and incorporates a flexible internal architecture to resist shock and vibration. The unit is water- and dust-resistant to NEMA4X, floats in water and is UL listed for use in Class 1 Div 1 areas.

Two versions of the instrument are available: a rechargeable unit using lithium-ion batteries for 12 hours' operation from one charge, and a version powered by three conventional AA alkaline batteries. For confined space entry Tetra has a powerful built-in electric sampling pump.
