NEW NORTH SAFETY GAS MASK AND CANISTER PROTECT AGAINST CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL AGENTS & RADIOACTIVE DUST
CRANSTON, R.I. (Feb. 20, 2002) - North Safety Products has introduced a new gas mask and canister to protect early responders in non-IDLH (non-immediately dangerous to life or health) atmospheres containing chemical and biological agents and radioactive dust. Intended for use by fire fighters, police officers, emergency medical service personnel, hazmat and other emergency response teams, the new mask meets the test requirements for U.S. military masks.
The North 54400 series gas mask features a 40-mm threaded connector that accepts U.S. and NATO military thread-type canisters, such as the new North Model 40NBC, as well as standard
European filters.
The lightweight design of the new North gas mask and its oral-nasal cup, which reduces lens fogging, offer a level of comfort that helps reduce worker fatigue and increases user acceptance.
A scratch-resistant, hard-coated polycarbonate lens provides excellent optics and greater than a 200-degree field of vision. It meets ANSI standards for impact and penetration resistance.
Available in two overlapping sizes, the North mask comfortably fits most adults. A belt-mountable carry-and-storage bag is included to keep the mask within easy reach for donning.
The Model 40NBC canister meets the performance requirements of NATO and U.S. military specifications as a chemical and biological canister (U.S. Army C2A1). The scope of the
specification (MIL-PRF-5160A) includes protection against chemical agents, biological agents and radioactive dust. The shelf life of the canister is eight years from date of manufacture.
