New Varian CP-4900 PRO(TM) Micro-GC Provides 'Lab Quality' GC Analysis for Process Applications

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 3 / -- Today, Varian, Inc. (NASDAQ:VARI) introduced its new CP-4900 PRO(TM) Micro-Gas Chromatograph (GC) for the demanding analysis needs of industrial process monitoring systems. About one-fifth the size of existing analyzers, Varian's CP-4900 PRO Micro-GC is particularly well suited for petrochemical and chemical processing as well as natural gas transmission/pipeline applications measuring the calorific value of normal to high BTU (British thermal unit) streams.

GC is a technique used to separate components in gases and vapors and is widely utilized to quantify potentially detrimental contaminants in natural gas, ambient air, and other environments.

The latest addition to the company's CP-4900 Micro-GC family, the CP-4900 PRO extends the use of Varian's Micro-GC, offering ultra-fast analysis for process applications where the ability to obtain near real time measurements is required.

All of these applications demand a reliable, robust system that can operate on a continuous basis in challenging environments with very stringent requirements and can measure sample stream components in amounts ranging from percent to parts per billion with a high degree of accuracy and repeatability. In addition, Varian's CP-4900 PRO provides measurements up to 50-times faster than conventional process GCs with excellent dynamic range, significantly increasing the quantity and integrity of data, which dramatically improves process monitoring.

Featuring built-in data-handling capability, the Varian CP-4900 PRO is fully compatible with all industry standard communication protocols including MODBUS, RS-485, RS-232 or Ethernet (LAN) without the need for a local PC and/or special data handling software. Data can also be simultaneously sent via a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) service for data storage and diagnostic purposes.

Varian's CP-4900 PRO Micro-GC is available for immediate order, with delivery within four weeks.
