Gaging Probe gets out of the way when necessary.

Press Release Summary:

Shaft of GHX Series LVDT probe retracts during loading/unloading operations in gaging fixture or inspection jig, but extends immediately when pressurized by air. Probe contact force remains constant, independent of position, and can be set by adjusting air pressure. Air outflow through bearing stops grit, dirt, dust, oil, solvents or other contaminants from entering unit. Applications include dimensional gaging, factory automation and position measurement.

Air-Extended, Spring-Retract Gaging Probes Offer Long Life, Consistent Performance

Pennsauken, NJ, February 7, 2002. By incorporating new dynamic design enhancements currently unavailable in competitive units, Macro Sensors' new GHX Series of Hermetically Sealed LVDT Gaging Probes offer long life and consistent measurement for dimensional gaging, factory automation and similar position measurement applications.

The GHX Series of Hermetically Sealed LVDTs offer three desirable features not typically found in similar gaging-probe type position sensors:

o The probe shaft retracts out off the way during loading/unloading operations in a gaging fixture or inspection jig but extends immediately when pressurized by air.

o Probe contact force remains constant, independent of position, and can be set by adjusting the air pressure with a low pressure-relieving regular.

o Air outflow through the probe's bearing also stops girt, dirt, dust, oil, solvents or other contaminants from entering the unit, increasing system reliability and probe life.

The sensors also offer absolute repeatability better than 1 micrometer, a threaded shank to simplify mounting and mechanical zero adjustment, a hermetically sealed case for operation in shop floor environments, and a cable connector for easy replacement in the event of damage to the unit or cable.

Available in both AC- and DC-operated versions, the GHX units are available in standard measurements of ±0.050" and ±0.125". The sensors can be used in a wide range of dimensional or position measurement applications in automotive factories, forges and foundries, metal fabricating shops, paper mills and all types of motion control systems. Macro Sensors manufactures a full line of support electronics for these LVDTS including OEM modules, DIN-rail mount line-powered and DC-operated signal conditioners and digital display and control instruments.

Pricing for the GHX series begins at $595 for AC-operated units and $745 for DC-operated units. Volume discounts available. For additional information, please contact Eileen Ellis at 856-662-8000/email: lvdts@macrosensors.com or visit our web site at www.macrosensors.com.
