Gaggle Now Supports RADIUS Authentication
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Gaggle, the leading provider of safe online learning tools, announced today that they now support RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial In User Service) authentication for educational institutions. RADIUS is a system that can be used to allow user access to multiple services using a single set of account credentials. Students in districts using RADIUS authentication are able to login to Gaggle with the same username and password that they use to access the local network resources in their schools.
"One of the great benefits of using RADIUS for logging into Gaggle is the centralized management of user accounts." Brett Woudenberg, COO of Gaggle, went on to say that "not only can usernames and passwords be controlled, but system administrators can also customize which individual services each user is allowed to access."
"Gaggle's RADIUS authentication provides an extra layer of security for districts who are concerned about providing student login credentials to outside systems," says Scott Wolf, System Support Engineer with Gaggle. "Furthermore, Gaggle does not keep a copy of the student's RADIUS password. It is only used temporarily to validate against the district's RADIUS server, and is then discarded after the login is complete."
