WAYNE, NJ -- Now in its seventh season, DIY Network’s popular renovation show Blog Cabin has returned, where viewers can vote on design elements that are used to transform cozy cottages into luxurious homes, see the finished results, and even win the home themselves. Hosted by tools expert and do-it-yourself enthusiast Chris Grundy, Blog Cabin promises viewers "You Design It, We Build It, You Could Win It!" and features other DIY Network experts throughout the series. This season documents the miraculous transformation of an exclusively designed vacation home situated on the “Crystal Coast” of North Carolina. GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, is a sponsor of the project and will be featured on the Blog Cabin hour-long special airing on September 12, 2013 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
This year's Blog Cabin showcase home was built mid-1800s and resides on three acres of gorgeous waterfront property just outside of New Bern, N.C. The transformation of the original 1,600-square-foot home into a fully furnished dream vacation retreat - nearly 2,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space that features 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, outdoor entertainment areas, a private dock, and beautiful views - will be documented on a series of DIY Network shows airing Mondays at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT A record-breaking over 14 million viewers voted on all aspects of this Blog Cabin renovation - from kitchen tiles to bathtubs to roofing shingles - on the network’s companion website DIYNetwork.com.
GAF contributed three roofing options for voters to choose from, with over 86,000 votes leading to the selection of the popular GAF Timberline® American Harvest® Lifetime Shingle. Timberline® American Harvest® Shingles are designed with an advanced color-application technique, which results in an extra-dimensional look for the home. American Harvest's seven unique shingle colors were created to complement the most popular home exterior color schemes, offering modern architectural style at an affordable price. Timberline® American Harvest® Shingles also incorporate GAF’s proprietary Advanced Protection® Technology, as well as the standard GAF Lifetime ltd. warranty.
Viewers are encouraged to connect Blog Cabin from their computers, mobile devices, phones, and tablets, and to participate in interactive blogs, videos, and photos on DIYNetwork.com/BlogCabin. They can view the winning design elements and enter for a chance to win this year's actual property - valued at almost $500,000 - through September 13.
