Future-Oriented and Sustainable Solutions for Reaching High Cleanliness Requirements

Southfield (MI), March 2023. Parts cleaning has become a quality critical manufacturing step in all industry sectors. Thus, companies have to take great effort to reproducibly meet even more demanding particulate and surface tension cleanliness specifications. Ecoclean is answering to these requirements with future-oriented parts cleaning solutions. With the EcoCcompact, a highly flexible and compact plug & play machine for solvent cleaning will be displayed at this year’s PMTS in Cleveland (OH). The company will also speak in the Parts Cleaning Conference with a presentation on efficient cleaning and validation for the medical industry.

Due to rising demands on component quality, new manufacturing technologies, modified processes and/or materials, digital transformation as well as stricter energy efficiency and climate protection targets, parts manufacturers are confronted with new challenges. Moreover, changes in regulations, for example in medical engineering, need optimized processes and plants. All these have an effect on parts cleaning. Even more stringent specifications on particulate and surface tension residual contaminations have to be fulfilled in a stable manner. In some industries, like the semiconductor supply and sensor industry, additional requirements such as maximum outgassing rates for organic substances and residual moisture must be met. Ecoclean and UCM – the division of the SBS Ecoclean Group specializing in high precision and ultra-fine cleaning – are responding to these demands with optimally adapted solutions and innovative developments. At PMTS, to be held at the Huntington Convention Centre Cleveland, in Cleveland (OH), from 18 – 20 April, 2023, Ecoclean and UCM (Exhibit Halls A – C, Booth # 3047) will be presenting a future-oriented range of solutions.

Future-proof investment through high flexibility

The cost-efficient, solvent-based EcoCcompact, which Ecoclean will be displaying, has been developed to solve a broad range of demanding cleaning tasks. This is ensured by equipment details such as the large batch capacity, effective washing mechanics and media preparation, energy-optimized system technology with effective heat recovery and various options. The compact plug-and-play solvent cleaning system operates under full vacuum, which results in a closed loop system with virtually no emissions and allows to easily switch between hydrocarbons and modified alcohols (semi-polar solvents) as cleaning media. In addition, it requires a footprint of only 10.5 x 5.3 x 8.0 ft (L x W x H). As standard, the EcoCcompact can be equipped with two or three fully-integrated flood tanks, each fitted with filtration system in the supply and return lines in the form of bag-type or high-performance filters and bypass filtration. The system can therefore be used from pre-cleaning through intermediate to final cleaning tasks and preservation, and achieves results in short cycles. Process technologies integrated as standard, such as vapor degreasing, ultrasonic and injection flood washing, also contribute to this. The latter generate a high mechanical cleaning effect, which can be further enhanced by an optionally integrable, frequency-controlled rotary drive for rotation and positioning the parts to be cleaned in a specific way. For workpieces with complex internal component geometries, the solvent cleaning system can additionally be equipped with Ultrasonic Plus. In contrast to conventional ultrasonic cleaning, which takes place under a constant working chamber system pressure, with Ultrasonic Plus the pressure varies according to the component geometry and contamination. As a result, the cleaning effect also unfolds in component areas that are not reached by classic ultrasonic cleaning.

Information all about cleaning

In addition to this live presentation, Ecoclean and UCM will inform about solutions for industry-specific requirements, including the diverse tasks in electromobility, medical engineering, in the production of equipment for the manufacture of semiconductors as well as maintenance and remanufacturing. Forward-looking service solutions are another topic at Ecoclean’s booth. These include an iOS and Android compatible Service app for maintenance and repair requirements, tailored service and maintenance concepts, developments regarding the digitization of cleaning processes, options for modernizing and adapting systems, as well as training programs for customer employees.

Presentation at Parts Cleaning Conference

At the Parts Cleaning Conference, Sandro Siminovich, Director of Sales at Ecoclean Inc in Southfield (MI), and Wesley Gensch, Medical Sales at Ecoclean Inc., will hold a presentation on “efficient and validated cleaning for the medical industry”. With this lecture medical device manufacturers will be able to evaluate their existing cleaning lines with a good understanding of how to improve quality and comply with new medical device reporting (MDR) regulations. It requires certain implants with capillaries, tap holes, or difficult geometries to be completely clean, both outside and inside. The speakers will talk about cleaning and passivation and will present the new Pulsated Pressure Cleaning technology as an efficient tool addressing this issue. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, April 19, at 11:30 a.m. at the Convention Centre Cleveland.
