Fused Outlet Maintains Uninterrupted Power Supply
Schurter's new type 4719 is a compact, shuttered outlet containing both an integrated fuseholder and neon indicator. The fuse blows in the event the equipment supplied by the outlet fails, a feature especially important for use in power strip configurations. If a piece of equipment fails, the unit continues to supply uninterrupted power safely to the other remaining outlets in the strip. The neon light associated with the affected outlet indicates the power failure. Shutters cover the contacts of the outlet to prevent exposure of the live contacts when the outlet is not being used.
The design of the 4719 saves time and expense during assembly because both fuseholder and outlet are fully integrated. Additionally, mounting the 4719 takes less space than mounting discrete parts since more holes are needed to separately mount the components, with more wiring between them. The 4719 is available wired or unwired. The indicator is independent, and can be wired to light up or turn off when the fuse blows.
The fuseholder for 5x20mm fuses is shockproof PC2 and is rated to IP65. The live solder terminal is offset to allow for parallel busbar connection of multiple outlets, and with a wide, range of snap-in panel thickness sizes available it facilitates fast and easy fitting. The outlet requires a cutout of 37 mm by 33 mm, with a depth of 36.2mm, saving space on the panel and inside the unit. The body of the 4719 is made from UL94-V) thermoplastic, with solder tab terminals; other options are available upon request.
The outlet is designed to comply with IEC/EN 60320-2-2/F, and is available in Class I or Class II protection. The fuseholder meets IEC/EN 60127-6 and has a power acceptance at ambient air temperature Ta 23° C of 1.6 Watts. The 4719 is recognized by cURus and approved by VDE at 10A/250V. Applications for the 4719 include medical, test equipment and instruments, computer and industrial equipment, as well as power strip manufacturers.
