Press Release Summary:
Typical 2X2 Fused Dual Clad Fiber (FDCF) couplers have Dual-Clad (DC) fiber in 2 opposite leads and multimode (MM) fiber in other 2 arms. DC input fiber can be optionally replaced with matching single-mode (SM) fiber, and MM output fiber can be terminated to form 2x1 FDCF coupler. Manufacturing process offers broad wavelength range and 100% transmission for SM fiber input. Applications include OCT and super resolution imaging, fiber sensors, spectroscopy, and confocal/fluorescence microscopy.

Gould Fiber Optics: Releases it's Commercial line of Fused Dual Clad Fiber Couplers
Millersville, MD, USA – Gould Fiber Optics, a leading worldwide manufacturer and supplier of premium passive fiber optic, planar components and integrated modules, is pleased to announce the release of its commercial line of Fused Dual Clad Fiber Couplers.
After several years of experience from partnerships and supporting the OCT and Bio-Imaging communities Gould is bringing to the market it’s commercial line of Fused Dual-Clad Fiber (FDCF) couplers. Built on Gould’s advanced high reliability fused tapered process and proprietary packaging platforms. The typical 2X2 FDCF couplers have Dual-Clad (DC) fiber in two opposite leads, and multimode (MM) fiber in the other two arms. The DC input fiber can be optionally replaced with a matching single-mode (SM) fiber and the MM output fiber can be terminated to form a 2x1 FDCF coupler.
Our engineering team in collaboration with multiple partners has dedicated many hours in the development and testing of this product. Gould’s unique manufacturing process offers a broad wavelength range, 100% transmission for SM fiber input, high coupling efficiency to multimode fiber and low wavelength dependent. FDCF couplers are used for many applications such as OCT and Super Resolution Imaging, Fiber Sensors, Spectroscopy, Confocal & Fluorescence Microscopy.
“Gould engineers, technicians and other support staff are always looking for solutions for our customers.” Gould Technology General Manager Dr. Saeed Pilevar stated. “This further enhances our advantages in capacity, reliability, performance, and flexibility.”
