SMD Fuseblock Packaging Facilitates Assembly

Schurter's unique SMD fusebock series, the OGN-SMD, is specifically designed for SMD automation, with packaging options that allow faster pick-and-place at a lower cost. Pre-loaded with
5x20 mm fuses and optional cover, the OGN-SMD is inserted in one step during the manufacturing process, eliminating the need for mounting the block, fuses, and cover in separate steps. As a
completely assembled unit, the OGN-SMD can also be soldered in just one step.
The OGN-SMD uses the latest in heat-resistant plastic (UL 94 V-0) for high-temperature processes, and is able to withstand the heat of both the vapor phase and reflow soldering. The fuseblock is space-saving, with a low height, and is SMT-compatible. The OGN fuse block was first available in a through-hole version. Schurter's FSF, FST, and FTT fuses are used for the pre-loaded version. These fuses are quick acting, time lag, and super time lag standard types, and are all UL approved, covering a range of 50mA to 10A.
The OGN-SMD is fully approved by UL, CSA, and VDE. It is rated up to a maximum of 10A/250V. Its rated power acceptance at ambient air temperature without cover or with reflow cover is
up to 4W; with transparent cover, 2.5W. Pin spacing is 22.5 mm and 25.0 mm to be compatible with existing fuseholders on the market.
Applications for the OGN-SMD include almost all typical 5x20 application areas ranging from circuit protection in household appliances to battery chargers, and in measuring and laboratory equipment.
The fuses are available packaged loose, in 500-piece trays for auto insertion, or in tape and reel quantities of 400 pieces. Pricing starts at $.793 for 800 pieces. Delivery time is 3-4 weeks.
