Fuse complies with lead-free manufacturing standards.

Press Release Summary:

Series 467 SlimLine(TM) Very Fast-Acting Fuse, offered in EIA 0603 size, uses no lead in fusing element or its termination, which is composed of 100% copper/nickel/tin. Series cuts off flow to circuits in as little as .02 sec at 300% of rated current. Standard outline measures .012 in. in height and is suitable for space-restricted ac or dc circuits. Fusing element protective coating material is resistant to aqueous and solvent-based cleaning operations.

Original Press Release:

New Littelfuse 0603 Size Fast-Acting SMD Fuse Allows Worldwide Compliance with Lead-Free Manufacturing Standards

DES PLAINES, Illinois, November 11, 2002 - To meet the growing needs of higher volume product manufacturers who must meet emerging worldwide lead-free manufacturing requirements, Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:LFUS) has introduced the 467 Series SlimLine(TM) Very Fast-Acting Fuse. The new smaller EIA 0603 size targets applications requiring overcurrent protection in a fast response, smaller footprint package. The low profile fuse is constructed of high performance substrate and packaging materials designed to withstand the 260 degree ambient temperatures used in lead-free soldering operations. The 467 series complies with present electronic industry manufacturing standards for lead-free circuit board content including IEC 60068-2-20 as well as with the EIA-IS-722 (Low Voltage Supplemental Fuse Qualification Specification), CSA and UL approvals.

As opposed to other planar fuses, this design uses no lead in either the fusing element or its termination, which is composed of 100% copper/nickel/tin for lead free compliance. This is the second major lead-free product release by Littelfuse, which has pledged to reduce or eliminate lead in all of its product lines. The company's goal is to allow end-product manufacturers to comply with emerging world-wide lead free initiatives such as Europe's Restriction of the use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electronic Equipment, (RoHS) and the Japanese Electronics Industry Development Association lead-free product roadmap.

Created for applications requiring extremely fast opening times to protect sensitive circuitry from momentary high levels of current, the 467 Series can cut off flow to a circuit in as little as .02 seconds at 300% of rated current, and in less time at higher surge current levels. The 467 series provides superior inrush withstand characteristics (I²t) over ceramic or glass-based chip fuse products. The standard outline 0603 device measures only .305 mm (.012") in height and can be used in space-restricted environments on either AC or DC circuits. For users of previous Littelfuse 0603-sized fuses, mounting pad and electrical performance is identical to the Littelfuse 431 and 434 series fuse. The fusing element protective coating material is resistant to industry standard aqueous and solvent-based cleaning operations. The 467 series is available in tape-reel packaging. Pricing for all amperage ratings are $0.31 for 10,000 piece quantities. Additional electrical parameters and performance characteristics are available via the datasheet at www.littelfuse.com. Customers can obtain more information or receive samples by contacting a Littelfuse application engineer via phone at (800) 999-9445, or fax (847) 391-0459.
