Furnace Extensometer has high-temperature, hot mountable design.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for use on any load testing system, Model 3549 is available for use to 1,600°C and mounts on included slide bracket. Gauge length is automatically set prior to mounting on test specimen, which allows for hot mounting after thermal equilibrium has been reached. User can set contact force against test specimen, allowing even and repeatable contact force while also limiting contact force induced errors. Design reduces influence from nominal external vibrations.

Original Press Release:

A Significant Advancement in Externally Mounted, Furnace Extensometers

Introducing Epsilon’s newest Model:  The 3549 High Temperature Hot Mountable Furnace Extensometer.    The 3549 introduces many new and innovative features that help improve productivity, ease of use, and accuracy with both static testing applications (tension and compression testing) and long term testing (low cycle fatigue and creep). The overall design significantly reduces any influence from normal external vibrations. The gauge length for the 3549 is automatically set prior to mounting on the test specimen, which allows for hot mounting after thermal equilibrium has been reached.

This unit also incorporates a new feature that allows the user to precisely set the contact force against the test specimen. This allows for even and repeatable contact force, limiting contact force induced errors. This extensometer mounts on a slide bracket (included) that can attach to the load frame of your test system.  Mounting brackets may be integrated with the furnace cut-out, and Epsilon can also provide load frame mounting brackets to fit your test frame.

This new extensometer is designed to meet the stringent requirements of strain-controlled testing as prescribed in ISO 6892.  It has temperature options available for use to 1600 °C.  The Model 3549 extensometers can be used on any load testing systems.  This model replaces  the 3548 and 3548HI .
